Frightfully Adorable Wonder

My husband desperately wanted a French Bulldog, and just over a year ago, I stumbled across an ad from Frenchie Pups USA. I called, had a pleasant chat, and they sent me photos and videos of the puppy. Without overthinking it, I transferred the deposit to reserve the pup. About a week later, the puppy was delivered with an accompanying courier and all the necessary documents. That’s how I surprised my husband and gained a little “son” at the same time.

This breed is truly unique. They get along wonderfully with kids and are so good-natured they’re practically incapable of aggression. Their playful antics can instantly lift your spirits. But they come with their fair share of challenges. When my Phil was around 4–5 months old, he snatched a chocolate-covered marshmallow. He didn’t eat much, but by morning, he was so swollen his facial folds nearly smoothed out, and his eyes were barely visible. I panicked, worried he might struggle to breathe since their breathing is already labored. I rushed him to the nearest vet under the health program included with the purchase, and they gave him a Suprastin shot. It worked. Another issue was a subcutaneous mite. They can pee from excitement or sadness. They love to chew everything. And until I trained him to go outside, I had to clean up after him a lot. In short, he’s like a full-fledged toddler. That’s why I call him my little “son.”
